Jon does not design and make jewellery for the pubicity it may or may not receive. As with many fellow craftspeople, the need to do what he does is an intrinsic part of who he is.
However, I'm sure he agrees with me, that there's no doubt that to have one's work recognised through awards and Press coverage is extremely rewarding!
This month Jon Dibben was named Best Bespoke Ethical Jeweller 2012 by the international lifestyle magazine, Sublime.
Sublime is a bi-monthly magazine with strong ethical values that explores community and celebrates diversity and individuality.
Columnists include Dr Frances Corner, Head of London College of Fashion and creator of the college's first Centre for Sustainable Fashion; David Buckland, artist, film maker and founder of the Cape Farewell project and Wayne Hemmingway, patron of sustainable transport charity Sustrans.
'Sublime Magazine is pleased to award Jon Dibben 'Best Bespoke Ethical Jeweller 2012'. Like Sublime Magazine, Jon Dibben values sustainability, consideration for the environment and beauty by creating products that are both stylish and ethical. Using the best material sourcing standards in jewellery production, valuing worker’s rights, traceability, and craftsmanship and creating limited-edition and individualised pieces that people love.'
