Chris, goldsmith and general raconteur, has been documenting some of the processes from his day to day workshop life. Hope you enjoy the films.
We had a lovely 'just engaged' couple come to the workshop yesterday to have their engagement ring which we made for them sized up about four sizes. This is a little slide show of some 'photos I took as I went along. The process involved cutting and opening out the back of the shank, melting up a blob of extra platinum to make a block to solder in the gap, then sawing, filing and sanding the block away until the shape matched the flow of the shank. The whole sizing took me about four hours, although most ring sizings are less involved than this one! ChrisÂ
